This is not a race.
This is not a fund-raiser.
This is not for profit.
This is just a bunch of people out for a challenging bike ride in a very scenic part of southwest Wisconsin.
What? ready to take on a 60, 80, 100 or insane 127 mile ride through
a very scenic (hilly) tour of three river valleys (Kickapoo, Wisconsin and Mississippi.)
When? July 26th, 2008 starting promptly at 7:30 am. Late comers risk not getting food along the way.
Where? Prairie du Chien, WI. Start and Finish at Lucky Park, at the entrance to St Feriole Island.
Why? Why not?
How? There are 4 fully-staffed rest stops, roughly every 25 miles. The shorter distance options
also visit all the rest stops. No one misses lunch this year.
How much? We can put this whole thing together for a cool $30. Fully supported ride, sag service, self-proclaimed expert
bike mechanics (and maybe even a professional), lawyers on site to help get an early jump on litigation, and a spaghetti
feast at the end of the ride. Blues Festival in the background. Hard to beat.
How many? We should be breaking our previous record of 25 riders. We're ready for up to 100. Sign up! Bring a friend.
Previous propaganda:
Starting and ending in historic, scenic and hilly Prairie du Chien WI.
What is in store for the 10th annual ride? Well let's see here...
* Fully staffed rest stops. No longer do speedsters need to worry about getting through in front of the sag wagon.
* Great weather-- forecast not yet available but you can just tell when its going to be nice.
* The route is tentatively set (details at above link)-- This is pending the annual pavement check. Route shown includes a couple optional climbs, but the official route will top 125 miles, 10 good climbs and somewhere around 12800 feet vertical. But don't worry-- we've carefully planned the route to include a strong tailwind on all the climbs.
This is a fully supported ride-- rest/ food/ water/ sports drink stops are every 17 - 26 miles. Sag wagons, mechanical support, and perhaps even some emotional encouragement are all supplied.
127 scenic miles through small town Wisconsin and beautiful river valleys. Some shorter distance
options available as well, starting at about 80 miles and up from there. Spaghetti dinner waiting at the finish line.
